CAMPUS SUMMARY
The University of West Alabama (formerly Livingston University) is a public university. It was founded as a church-affiliated academy for women in 1835, served as a teacher's college for much of its history, and gained university status in 1967. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the Division of Nursing. Its 514-acre campus is located in Livingston, 60 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa.
